What is a home sleep study?

A safe, non-invasive test you do in your own bed. It records brain activity, heart rhythm, breathing, oxygen levels, and movement to help investigate sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea.

How does it work?

Initial consultation with our clinician to understand your sleep and health

Sleep study kit sent to your home.

Wear it overnight, then return it in the prepaid satchel.

Results reviewed and discussed at your follow-up appointment.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. We accept referrals from all doctors and nurse practitioners. If you do not have one, we can organise this during your initial consultation with us.

Is the test safe?

Yes. It’s painless and simple to use. Before we arrange your test, our doctors check your medical history to make sure a home study is suitable for you. If needed, an in-lab study may be recommended instead.

What conditions are linked with poor sleep?

Research shows sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea is associated with:

Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate?

Many patients are eligible for a rebate if certain clinical criteria are met. This will be discussed during your initial consultation, where your clinician will confirm eligibility before arranging a study.

How long until I get results?

Once your returned kit is received by us, results are usually available within 3 business days, followed by your review appointment.

What happens if my sleep study fails or does not meet the quality standards?

If your sleep study has failed or it records unreportable data then we will reach out to you and organise a repeat sleep study at no additional cost.
